It is work, not pleasure, that can bring happiness. Are you …

It is work, not pleasure, that can bring happiness. Are you surprised? Well, that is because you still do not understand what real work is; otherwise you would know that this is where you can find happiness. The question is not to go without pleasure, but simply not to give it priority or make it the goal of your life, because the search for pleasure at all costs weakens you and deprives you of resources. When you are feeling emotions and sensations, you gradually burn your reserves. And so, instead of considering pleasure as a goal in life, say to yourself, 'I must do something sensible, useful and great with my life.' You then replace the thought of pleasure by the thought of work, that is, you always try to replace an ordinary self-centered occupation by a more noble and generous activity, which will broaden your consciousness and trigger new possibilities in you.
