It is important to pay attention to how you begin your day. …

It is important to pay attention to how you begin your day. So many people get out of bed moaning and groaning! It should come as no surprise to them, then, if the entire day continues to unfold on the same note. And when they go to bed at night they are unable to sleep: they toss and turn, put the light on and off and finally take sedatives. Why don’t they prepare themselves for sleep before they go to bed? The end of the day, like the beginning, is a sacred moment, because it is the beginning of another activity: sleep. Disciples know how they must begin their day, if it is to be fruitful and filled with God’s grace and if they want to distribute this grace to the creatures around them. They also know how to prepare for sleep, by asking to go to the invisible world where they can be instructed and work for others. In every act, in every undertaking, the beginning is the most important moment.
