Religions - must abandon their narrow framework. Example of Jesus

We see that all religions tend to become institutions that have very little to do with their true vocation: to help human beings become conscious of their divine origin. We see this in the clergy’s stubborn determination to convince the faithful that their religion is superior. As a result, we find people all over the world who believe in the superiority of their religion, just as they believe in the superiority of their country. They close themselves off in their religion, just as they close themselves off within the borders of their homeland, which are often one and the same. With such convictions they never cease to commit crimes and offend the Lord, Christians along with the rest! This was not, however, the example Jesus gave them. Haven’t they read in the Gospels, for example, how Jesus behaves toward the Samaritans and how he presents them, while in the eyes of the Jews they were mere idolaters? If Christians had taken the trouble to meditate on these episodes in the Gospels and on Jesus’ attitude, they would have understood that true faith is a state of consciousness which transcends the narrow limits of a religion.
