Both the Old Testament and the Cabbalah refer to God by …
Both the Old Testament and the Cabbalah refer to God by different names. One of these names is the tetragrammaton Iod He Vau He h v h y. These four letters correspond to the four principles which, in the human being, are the spirit (Iod), the soul (He), the intellect (Vau) and the heart (the second He). But for these four principles to manifest themselves and incarnate, a fifth principle is needed; this is the Shin w , symbol of the union between spirit and matter, which is interposed between them at the centre h v w h y. These, then, are the letters in Jesus’ name, which is Ieschouah in Hebrew. So, Jesus came to fulfil the mission symbolized by his name. Not only did he proclaim himself son of God, he also insisted that all human beings are the sons and daughters of God, and in the Lord’s Prayer he asks them to work for the realization of the kingdom of God on earth: ‘Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ Jesus taught humans that, by coming to incarnate on earth, they become the physical manifestation of the Deity, and he showed them the way.
