Why do you find it difficult to meditate? Because you …

Why do you find it difficult to meditate? Because you haven’t really understood that each moment of your life is not isolated but is connected to all the moments preceding it. You must therefore be attentive and prepare the conditions that will enable you to carry out a true work with thought when the time comes. Suppose you have argued with someone: the following day when you want to meditate, you will be endlessly ruminating and settling scores with this person. Instead of feeling detached and rising into heavenly realms, you will be completely engaged in pursuing yesterday’s discussions. For one reason or another, it is always the same story, and you never learn to meditate. So let us be clear. You can accomplish many things by means of thought, but only if you become conscious that every moment of your life is connected to those preceding it, and that work with thought, like all other work, takes preparation.
