To see an enterprise through, we first need love because, in each enterprise, we meet obstacles, difficulties, and only love allows us to overcome them. Without love we might get discouraged and let everything go. Once the first difficulties have been dealt with and have been defeated by love, then is the time for thought and wisdom.
Love thus prepares the ground for wisdom. If love is weak or lacking, then wisdom will lack conditions for its expression. When you love something, you want to study it, to know it, and this is how your love encourages you to explore the ground. And when you love someone, you also want to understand him and have a good relationship with him. Love gives you the conditions for understanding, and that is why we can say that if you have no love, you will gain no wisdom.
