You are familiar with the traditional image of a king: a great figure seated on a throne, holding a rod or sceptre in his right hand and an orb in his left. The sceptre and orb represent two principles, the masculine and the feminine. The masculine principle is always symbolized by a vertical line: a sceptre, a caduceus, a pillar, a tree, a mountain, a summit; and the feminine principle is symbolized by an orb or a hollow, rounded object: a vase, a chalice, a cave, a chasm. How many monarchs have been conscious of the cosmic dimension of these objects they held in their hands? Probably very few. We can say that a true king is a spiritual king, an initiate who has studied the science of the masculine and feminine principles in great depth and knows how to unite them within himself in order to create.
