Not only does pleasure not constitute happiness, it is …
Not only does pleasure not constitute happiness, it is often the pursuit of pleasure that stops you from finding happiness. Pleasure is a momentarily enjoyable sensation that leads human beings to believe that by prolonging it as long as possible, they will be happy. Well, no. Why? Because the activities that quickly and easily give them an enjoyable sensation do not, for the most part, exist in the higher planes. They affect only the physical body, maybe the heart and barely the intellect. But we cannot be happy if we seek to satisfy solely the physical body, the heart or even the intellect, because they are limited and ephemeral satisfactions. Unlike pleasure, true happiness is not a sensation of the moment and it affects the entire being. So, when you find something appealing or pleasant, do not rush at it, imagining that this is where you will find happiness.
