The education offered to students in the academies of music and fine arts is certainly very useful, but it tends to stifle the life in them. The great musicians, like all great artists, have always obeyed rules other than those they were taught, because they have had access to higher worlds from which to draw their inspiration. All great creators have been able to project themselves into the realms of the spirit and then transcribe what they have seen or heard there. To capture a divine spark and illuminate people’s souls – this is the true meaning of inspiration.
