Why is it said the fearful will not enter the kingdom of God? Because even if you possess great virtues, these will not be enough to neutralize the damage caused by fear. Does that surprise you? Well, it shouldn’t. How often we’ve seen fear block the expression of all good qualities! Look, for example, how much the fear of loneliness, poverty, public opinion, illness and death makes people cowardly, dishonest, egotistical and cruel. So much crime is committed by people afraid of losing something they’re overly attached to! This is also why, in initiations of old, only those capable of conquering their fear were allowed access to knowledge of the mysteries.
