Everything the Bible says is correct, not perhaps by the …

Everything the Bible says is correct, not perhaps by the standards of the intellect, which always keeps to the letter of the text, but correct where the soul and spirit are concerned. This is the meaning of St. Paul’s words in his Second Letter to the Corinthians: ‘The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.’ The truths expressed in the Bible were experienced by exceptional souls. If we are to understand these truths, we must endeavour to follow these souls up to the realms they themselves reached, that is, to see things as they saw them. If we are to interpret, for example, the parables Jesus used, we need a different kind of science, the science of symbols, which can only be acquired by exercising the faculties of the soul and spirit. We will understand the sacred texts of all religions when our being is on the same wavelength as those who wrote them; otherwise, their language, their true language, will remain foreign to us. We must feel what they felt, live what they lived, that is, rise to their level of consciousness. Then the light will really burst forth! But this higher level of consciousness can only be achieved if we become more mindful and respectful of the laws of the spiritual world.
