Prayer is based on the power of the spoken word, for the spoken word is an essential factor in realization. But, prior to this, the desire and thought should already be powerful on the spiritual plane. The spoken word is then like a signature which permits the release of forces from on high. When you are praying, you wish to express a feeling of love and adoration towards the Creator: since feeling is purely psychic, you don’t need to use words. But if you wish to achieve something on the physical plane, then the spoken word is necessary. However, the intensity of the thought and feeling remains what is most important.
