If you really want salvation, do not always want things to be easy and your life to be comfortable. Why? Because if you live in ideal material conditions you do not have as much opportunity to exercise your will and you do not progress. It is when conditions are slightly difficult or in some way deprived that we are forced to make an effort, forced to surpass ourselves. All the beings who have shown themselves to be of exceptional character had previously experienced difficult conditions, deprivation or even persecution. I am not suggesting you go and seek out misery, disease or enmity. I just want you to understand that the only conditions you should seek are where you are able to exercise your will so that you may progress and come closer to the divine world.
