Do not be misled into thinking that simply because a thought crosses your mind, it can be considered good and right. So long as you have not worked at bringing yourself into harmony with the world of love and light, your antennae remain fallible and the messages they receive continue to be distorted and tendentious. Analyze yourself and if you are honest with yourself you will find that nine out of ten of your beliefs are inspired by motives that totally lack generosity and are based on self-interest. But since you have no criteria by which to measure these beliefs, you do not concern yourself with finding out what lies at their origin. You simply throw yourself into the actions they inspire. Most of the confrontation that arises between human beings is caused by their lack of discernment and their refusal to ask themselves whether their opinions and demands are valid. If you truly want to improve yourself, you must begin by establishing for yourself ruthless criteria by which to analyze the origin of all your motives.
