Exercise - neutralizes tiredness
Never make tiredness an excuse for avoiding doing the exercises our Teaching recommends. Of course, there are times when you will be tired, but the only way to get rid of the old tiredness you’ve been unable to shake off is to go and watch the sun rise, do the breathing and gymnastic exercises and dance the paneurhythmy. Some of you will say it will only add to your tiredness. Maybe, but it is a beneficial tiredness that will rid you of the other kind. Anyone who stays with their old tiredness is keeping it going. Tiredness is afraid of effort. Impose any effort on it and it runs away. On the other hand, if you stroke it kindly and say, ‘My dear tiredness, let’s stay in bed; let’s have lunch together’, it will never leave. Nothing can justify your giving way to inertia. Even those who have the greatest difficulty walking must do their best to take at least a few steps, and if it is really impossible they should try to visualize themselves walking. Yes, never accept inertia.
