It is because human beings are not all at the same stage of evolution that we find them in such diverse situations. Some have come to earth to resolve problems that are purely material: they have to struggle to feed and clothe themselves, to find lodging and earn money. Others are perfectly fine on the material plane but have difficulties in the emotional domain: they encounter jealousy, suspicion and depraved desires in themselves, and it is here that they must make efforts. Still others have difficulties in the mental domain: they lack discernment, lucidity, and must learn how to conduct themselves. We all have an obligation to perfect ourselves in a particular domain, and it also happens that some have to work in all three domains at once. This is the case for those who are still very low on the ladder of evolution or, on the contrary, for those who are very evolved and gifted.
