Love begins with a look, and when two people fall in love with each other, they are content in the beginning to express themselves in this way. As if they were drinking water from the summits, their love is crystalline and pure... There are no better exchanges than those we can make with the eyes. It is rare, of course, but it sometimes happens that we receive a look which has nothing earthly in it, a divine look replete with a thousand things so subtle that even the greatest poet could not translate its contents. For those who prefer concrete, palpable satisfactions, a look is nothing, because they can neither touch it nor hold it in their hands. But there are those for whom a look is enough, and it is true that we can live exclusively on the love such a look expresses.
