We see that, from the chemical point of view, water is the result of the combination of two gasses. The formula H2O means that one molecule of water is composed of two atoms of hydrogen and one atom of oxygen. So hydrogen is 2, the number of the feminine principle, and oxygen is 1, the number of the masculine principle. Water is therefore the child of an oxygen father and a hydrogen mother. Can we make sense of this mystery, of the claim that the meeting of two gasses, representing the element air, produces a liquid? Two gasses, symbols of the masculine and feminine principles, united by the fire of love, give birth to water. Compared with these gasses, with this subtle matter that forms water, water itself is relatively concrete and material, and it is this water that brings us life.
