Love is a magnificent impulse, but it is too often mixed …
Love is a magnificent impulse, but it is too often mixed with elements of passion that prevent its true nature from showing. Look at a newborn puppy, calf, or kid – they are not very clean and their mother has to clean them. And a newborn baby also has to be washed. Well, love is like that – it is a divine baby, for God himself is concealed within every kind of love, but that love still has to be purified, educated, strengthened and liberated before the Godhead can appear. Even the most selfish, crude, sensual love contains a divine quintessence, but this quintessence is veiled by too many heterogeneous elements, as it has been dragged through many dirty places, sooty chimneys and muddy streams. It is like a precious stone that has to be cleaned.
