Every disciple of an initiatic school can be compared to …

Every disciple of an initiatic school can be compared to the knight Percival, who goes in quest of the Grail. But in reality it is within himself he must lead this quest for the Grail. The Grail, this cup, is our body, and I do not mean only our physical body, but also our astral body (where our feelings dwell)1 and our mental body (where our thoughts dwell). Since we are alive it means our platter is the receptacle of divine life, of the blood of Christ, the spirit, but this receptacle is not perfect. A great deal of effort is still required before we gleam like the Holy Grail and before we produce the same marvellous effects. According to the legend it is knights who went in quest of the Grail because the virtues needed for this inner work are those generally associated with a knight, in other words, intrepidity, tenacity, loyalty, fidelity and nobleness of character. And our teaching gives all the methods to develop these virtues. 1 See note and diagram on p. 368
