So many people are dull, lifeless and irritable, and even if they try to improve their appearance with all kinds of artifice, their ordinary, prosaic inner life still shows through. They never worry about the disagreeable effects they have on others, and yet they are amazed that no one likes them! What we love and look for in others is poetry that will inspire us: something light, luminous and magical that we cannot help but feel, breathe and gaze upon, something that soothes, harmonizes and enlightens. How many unhappy experiences will it take for them to understand this?
