You build your true inner dwelling with wisdom and love. …

You build your true inner dwelling with wisdom and love. Wisdom’s materials are solid, but they need to be supported by a living soul within if they are to last long; otherwise there will soon be mould on the walls. This living soul is love. A house that’s lived in doesn’t deteriorate as quickly as an empty one. It is kept alive by the presence of people, their activity and their breath. It says to itself, ‘I am someone’s home, so I must stay standing.’ But it will start falling to pieces if it’s abandoned. So build your house with wisdom as the framework, but fill it with love to preserve it and make it solid. It will crumble if there is no love and no life circulating inside. And the proof is that once the soul leaves the body of a human being the body gradually decomposes. What was it that kept this building standing? The life that was flowing inside it.
