What is called 'inspiration' is in reality a contact with a force, an intelligence, an entity which belongs to a superior world. With this contact we can accomplish what we could not normally do by ourselves. For example, someone wants to talk, but does not find the right words: he is embarrassed, he stammers. But suddenly something passes through him, a light, an energy, and he surrenders himself to it. He is so amazed then to see that he does not have to search for words anymore, they just flow like a source to the point where he listens to what he is saying while talking, as if he were listening to somebody else. This is what goes on in an artist too. Where does this phenomenon come from? What is the presence within him that knows how to find the material, how to put the elements together, and how to combine them to create forms and expressions, which amaze us and fill us with wonder? By himself, man is not really capable of creating works of genius; but if he knows how to prepare himself by working inwardly to purify and elevate himself, he can be visited by souls who will inspire him.
