On the plains below, dust and mists so often prevent you from seeing things clearly! But if you leave the plains for the peaks, everything becomes clear. These phenomena of the physical plane have their equivalent on the psychic plane. Symbolically, dust stands for the scheming of the common mind, busy with its self-interest, its wheeling and dealing and shady business. As for the mist, this stands for murky feelings and over-sensitivity. It is the lower mental plane that produces dust, and the lower astral plane with its turmoil that produces clouds and mists; in neither case is it possible to see clearly. This is why disciples must, through meditation, prayer and contemplation, seek to free themselves from the regions of dust and mists and finally break through into the light.
