Liking or disliking, A - why people have these in relation to us

It is not necessarily what you do but what you are that causes people to like or dislike you – it is what emanates from you, and whether it resonates with what they themselves are deep down. And sometimes, the awful thing is that if you do good to someone who instinctively dislikes you, not only will you not change their feelings toward you, but you will become even more unbearable to them. That may surprise you, but that’s how it is. If someone takes an instinctive dislike to you, instead of recognizing your kindness and goodness they will attribute spiteful intentions to you and will invent suspect motives for your actions and try to harm you. Therefore, distance yourself if you can from that person so that he or she forgets about you. Until now you may never have had much experience of this aspect of human psychology, but be aware that it exists, and be careful, so that you will not have to suffer from it. Do not let it stop you from doing good, but learn to study those around you.
