When we see what humans call freedom, the word ‘debauchery’ …

When we see what humans call freedom, the word ‘debauchery’ would really be more appropriate. Why? Because they want to be free to give in to laziness, pleasure and passion, without realizing it’s precisely this that limits and enslaves them. True freedom is not acquired by freeing oneself from all constraints but by becoming a servant. Yes, but the servant of God, who is absolutely free. God is the only being in the universe who is truly free. He depends on nothing and on no one; it is he who consciously, willingly, limited himself through the act of creation. If you really want to be free, make yourself the servant of the Lord, and seek to merge with him; then his freedom will permeate you.
