Even if they are not aware of it, people who deny the existence of entities higher than themselves are limiting themselves and are gradually sinking into darkness. How do they imagine they will be able to progress and perfect themselves as long as they do not know, or refuse to admit, the existence above them of this sublime hierarchy of angels, archangels, etc., all the way up to the Lord ? Because they cut themselves off from the ascending chain of beings, they have nothing and nobody with which to connect, to supply them with energies of a higher order, and help them progress along the road of evolution. Of course they are able to live, to manage materially, but from the spiritual point of view they stagnate, they gradually become mortified. Whereas those who are conscious of the existence of spiritual hierarchies always see this light before them and are given the impetus to progress.
