Light is the substance of creation. This is why it is written in the book of Genesis that God created light on the first day, before everything else. Some theologians and philosophers claim that God created the world out of nothing. Nothing external to himself, yes. And this is what is so difficult for us to understand, since we can only build things out of materials and tools that are outside us. In reality, it is impossible to create something out of nothing, and the notion of a creation arising out of nothing merely indicates that God drew the substance of the universe from himself. The universe is nothing other than this substance drawn from God and externalized in the form of light, but which is still God. In the beginning, God, the primordial Fire, the masculine principle, generated light and projected it into space.
