Observe yourself clear-sightedly and objectively in order …
Observe yourself clear-sightedly and objectively in order to know which of your faculties are most developed and which are most lacking and need to be acquired. Once you have achieved this, here is some advice: start working with your most developed faculties, and then, from time to time only, try to remedy what you lack, what’s missing. Don’t force yourself to work with your weakest faculties, on the pretext that you need to develop them. It is better to look for the strongest factor in oneself to act with and then, from time to time only, try to remedy one’s inadequacies. If you embark on tasks you are clearly not cut out for, if you abandon your riches to attend to your poverty, you won’t get very far, and you will become discouraged. Do the opposite, work with your talents, gifts and faculties, because riches attract riches, and once you have gained a great deal you can focus on what you are lacking.
