Because most people have studied chemistry at school to a greater or lesser degree, they know that chemical bodies have certain properties and that they can only act or be transformed at certain temperatures, in certain proportions and so on. But what use is this knowledge if they do not realize that their inner lives are also governed by the same laws? But they do not realize this and they imagine that simply by introducing within them all kinds of elements - thoughts, feelings, desires - in whatever way or condition, they will obtain what they want. Well no, thoughts, feelings and desires are like chemical bodies. They have equally varied properties, which produce equally varied reactions depending on how they are combined. The physical world is governed by the same laws as the psychic world and if we are to become well-balanced and flourish it is more important to know psychic chemistry, otherwise we risk poisoning ourselves, burning ourselves or blowing ourselves up.
