Pleasure - a dangerous guide that restricts human beings

When human beings take pleasure as their guide they are in great danger, for what pleases them generally feeds their instincts more often than their soul and spirit. For proof, just look at where they find their pleasure: in eating, drinking, sleeping with someone, gambling at a casino, trampling all over others, seeking revenge, and so on – the possibilities are endless. But where will all this lead them in years to come? In their search for pleasure, people think only of themselves for their pleasure is for them. They do not seek the pleasure of others, only their own. In this way, they restrict and debase themselves, because they often have to resort to despicable methods in order to obtain and defend their pleasure. They become demanding and unjust, and if the pleasure they seek eludes them, they can be irritable, aggressive and vindictive. Others find them unbearable and do not hesitate to make them aware of the fact. So what possible satisfaction do they gain from their pleasure?
