Generosity - it presumes knowing how to practise saving
Many people are stingy, but not many are thrifty! Thriftiness does not necessarily mean selfishness, just as to be lavish is not necessarily a sign of generosity. You must know how to tell the difference: those who throw their money out of the window or who spend their energy running all over the place are often thought of as generous. No, that is carelessness, vanity or foolishness – anything you want, but not generosity. To be generous, you must know the art of saving. To give, you must possess and therefore save. Once someone has squandered everything, what is left for them to distribute? To be thrifty, therefore, is to be able to save to then be able to spend where and when, and as much as is needed, but no more.
