Gratitude - comparing the little inconveniences with all the gifts given to us by Providence

Learn to weigh the little inconveniences of life against all the great gifts that Providence has given you, and draw your own conclusions: you will be obliged to feel nothing but gratitude. Instead, you spend your time comparing the little you have—or so you think—with the possessions of those who are better off. Well, these are poor comparisons. If you really feel the need to make comparisons, why not compare the advantages you have with the truly appalling conditions so many other people live in? Constant ingratitude and dissatisfaction show a distinct lack of intelligence on the part of human beings. Instead of recognizing all the blessings showered on them by heaven, they find all kinds of reasons to be miserable.*
