Many pessimists take themselves for great philosophers, and …

Many pessimists take themselves for great philosophers, and what is extraordinary is that they manage to persuade others of it as well. In reality they are highly ambitious people who desire the impossible. Unable to achieve it, they succumb to despair and misanthropy. They become disillusioned with life and human beings and spread their notions everywhere, imagining they are demonstrating great depth and lucidity. But this is not true. In fact it is just the opposite: their view is completely muddled by their black moods. We have a right to be aggrieved, but only over the problems or misfortunes of others, not over our own unsatisfied desires and ambitions. Those who frequently fall into this state should realize they are not very evolved, for their pessimism is generally inspired by their lower nature. They must make every effort to put a stop to this, or they will never know the true life.
