In our daily activities, we can find the four states of matter: solid, liquid, gaseous and igneous, which correspond to the four elements - earth, water, air and fire. The solid state corresponds to actions, the liquid state, to feelings, the gaseous state, to thoughts and the igneous, etheric state, to activities of the soul and spirit. To each of these states, which are linked to the four elements, correspond symbolically a specific trial in human life: earthquakes correspond to the solid state; rainfalls and floods, to the liquid state; hurricanes and storms, to the gaseous state, and fires and lightning, to the igneous state. Reflect on this, and you will discover that our psychic life goes through similar trials. To be able to face these, we must work to fortify our will, purify our heart, enlighten our intellect and sanctify our soul and spirit.
